These records encompass various case filings, such as the official divorce decrees, custody orders, divorce petitions, name change orders, and protective orders.

Divorce records in Arlington are generally open to the public, as they fall under the county’s court records and are governed by Titles 16.1 and 17.1 of the Virginia Code. The documents can be reviewed using two primary methods:

  • Internet access through the state judiciary’s Circuit Court Case Information system.
  • Direct request tothe Arlington County Circuit Clerk’s Office at the county courthouse, via written request (mail) to the address below, or by email at civil-docrequest@arlingtonva.us.

It is essential to note that a fee applies to procure copies from the clerk: 50 cents per page and $2 per certification. Furthermore, any documents or information legally designated as confidential or sealed by a court order will only be released to the case parties or other legally eligible individuals/entities.
